What are the benefits of becoming a member of Delta Eta Iota?
Great question. By it's very nature, a sorority binds people together by friendship, aspirations, and common goals. Joining a Greek-letter organization offers countless opportunities and experiences. The women of Delta Eta Iota create friendships, develop skills, improve their academic performance, all while serving the campus and community.
By becoming a Delta, you will be included in a wide, established professional network. Delta Eta Iota is the first women’s sorority at the University of Lethbridge. We have established ourselves on campus and in the city. Students and individuals throughout the city know Delta Eta Iota, who we are, and what we do. We have worked very hard over the past five years to create lasting relationships in and around Lethbridge, and have definitely succeeded.
We will find you your perfect volunteer placement. Delta Eta Iota requires community service/volunteer hours from our members. Our Volunteer Chair and Fundraising Chair work tirelessly throughout the year to provide our members with plenty of options for volunteering in the community, and will help you find a placement you will love. Whether you are an animal lover, a musician, a writer, an athlete, or none of the above, there is a perfect volunteer opportunity waiting for you.
You will have unlimited opportunities to enrich your studies. We have required study hours, and we enforce minimum academic standards. Our Academic Chair works to provide resources to help every sister succeed. As a Delta, you will be around women of all ages and backgrounds, with different majors and different academic resumes. You're guaranteed to find a study buddy for any class.
Our social calendar is diverse. We help members become more actively involved in campus life. You will have the opportunity to take part in various kind of social events, ranging from mixers with other organizations, to murder mysteries, to Sisterly Sundays. Our Social Chair organizes regular events for sisters, as well as for friends and family of our sisters. You'll never have a hard time filling your calendar, that's for sure!
We have the lowest fees on campus. Delta Eta is what we call a Local Sorority. What this means is we are not associated with the National Panhellenic Conference. All this means is we are unique and independent, and we follow different rules and regulations. This is extremely beneficial for us, as our fees are much lower than sororities that are a part of the Panhellenic Conference. We have relationships with other local sororities, which allows us to feel a sense of connection nationally that being local doesn't always provide.
By joining Delta Eta Iota, you will be a part of a unique experience. You will have the opportunity to create life-long friendships, and create unforgettable memories. Contact us if you have any other questions about life as a Delta!
